Kelson Group Swings in to Support REIC Edmonton
Last week, the Edmonton chapter of the Real Estate Institute of Canada (REIC) held its 6th annual charity golf tournament. Kelson Group proudly sponsored breakfast for this event which raises funds to support some of the most vulnerable populations in Edmonton and area.
Half of the funds raised at this event go to REIC and the other half is split between Habitat for Humanity and the REALTORS Community Foundation. The REALTORS Community Foundation helps fund and support local charities that address homelessness, hunger, shelter, crime prevention, and other needs.
"The sponsorship is a great show of support by Kelson Group," said Wanda Bone, REIC director of programs and golf tournament coordinator. "I reached out to the REIC membership and dozens of contractors and contacts in the industry. Jason Fawcett of Kelson Group was quick to come on board to sponsor the breakfast."
As an educational organization, REIC uses its half of the funds to provide professional development opportunities to people in the real estate management industry. This includes those in property management and real estate, both commercial and residential.
"There are about 130 members in the Edmonton chapter," said Bone. "We are a fundraising organization and funds come through events we host throughout the year."
Golf tournament participants are generally a combination of REIC chapter members, industry peers, stakeholders, and vendors.
This year saw more golfers and more dollars raised compared to last year.
"We had great weather, a good turnout, and lots of volunteers and hole sponsors," said Bone. "We raised close to $11,000 for Habitat for Humanity, the REALTORS Community Foundation, and REIC. It's a group of great people raising money for some great organizations. We're proud of the event and how it brings people together for a good cause."
