In any organization, success hinges on the dedication and talent of its people. Today, we proudly spotlight one of our exceptional team members, Jenalyn Soriano. As a Building Manager in the Greater Edmonton area, Jenalyn has been an integral part of the Kelson Group for nearly eight years. Her invaluable contributions and unwavering commitment to excellence truly set her apart.
Join us in celebrating Jenalyn’s journey and the unique qualities that make her an invaluable part of our team.
Jenalyn has called Canada home for the past 17 years. When the chance to move abroad from the Philippines came up, she embraced it wholeheartedly. Although the transition wasn’t easy, she faced challenges head-on and remained determined to enhance her skills through education, which has been key to her growth and success.
Jenalyn joined Kelson Group in 2016 as a leasing agent, overseeing seven buildings. In this role, she significantly reduced vacancy rates for the Alberta team by matching potential residents with the best properties. Her hard work and experience soon led her to transition into a Building Manager role.
“This feels like family to me—it doesn’t even feel like work,” Jenalyn says, noting that living on-site allows her to truly connect with her residents. “I know each resident by name and the car they drive in the 82-unit building I manage.” She emphasizes that Kelson Group’s core value of caring for residents truly stands out. “It’s a business built on care. I see Kelson growing and thriving, always willing to develop and improve their buildings to keep residents happy.”
Celebrating community spirit, Jenalyn treasures the times when the team comes together for lunch to count food donations, as Kelson matches each pound donated with a dollar contribution to local Food Banks.
Reflecting on Kelson Group's history and accomplishments over the last half-century, Jenalyn is proud of the company’s growth. What began with Ron Fawcett renting out a basement suite has expanded into multi-family buildings, ultimately becoming respected developers in the industry.
“At Kelson Group, ‘retention’ is a big word,” she notes. While many property management companies focus on retaining residents, Kelson goes a step further by prioritizing employee retention.
“I tell Kelson Group owners that they are my longest employer. I’ve been with them for eight years and have no plans to go anywhere,” she adds. “Recently, my husband Rodel joined the company as part of the renovation team. I am incredibly grateful to Kelson Group for providing such wonderful opportunities.”
“Kelson Group also encourages continuous learning for Building Managers and Maintenance staff,” she adds. The company supports her educational aspirations by covering her course fees. She has completed her Accredited Residential Manager (ARM) certification and is now nearing the finish line for her Certified Property Manager (CPM) certification.
As Kelson Group celebrates its 50th anniversary, Jenalyn reflects, “I’m proud to have been part of the company for eight of those years. Congratulations to everyone—cheers to another 50!”
