United Way Day of Caring®
As a company, one of Kelson Group's goals is to rent apartments to help residents live better. The company truly sees the big picture too of the help their team can give in the cities they own and operate rental suites in, therefore helping entire communities live better. With that in mind, the Kelson Group team in Kamloops participated in the Day of Caring® with the United Way and went to the Children's Therapy Centre. This centre provides therapy for children with an identified need, while also supporting the families and communities in which they live.
The Kelson Group team rolled up their sleeves and tackled an extensive list of tasks including:
- Painting the walls in the main room
- Painting a refresher coat of chalkboard paint
- Removing shelves and some ducting
- Painting kitchen cupboards
- Installing Christmas lights and doing other small jobs
The results of the Day of Caring® were so appreciated by the Children's Therapy Centre, as well as the team at the United Way Thompson Nicola Cariboo.
"When companies participate in a Day of Caring® with United Way they are showing non-profits and the clients those non-profits serve that they care," says Danalee Baker, Executive Director of the United Way Thompson Nicola Cariboo. "These volunteers from Kelson Group are a critical component in completing projects and maintaining program space for centres like the Children's Therapy Centre as many non-profits do not have the resources or time to complete them on their own – and the result has a huge impact on the morale of staff. Our biggest thanks to Kelson Group and their team for serving in this way!"
The Kelson Group teams across the portfolio look forward to playing a role in future Day of Caring® initiatives. They encourage other businesses to also engage in connecting with the United Way in their community to learn more about what they can do through a Day of Caring.
