Growth + Renewal: A Kelson Group Spring Update

Posted On Apr 8, 2019

With the arrival of warmer weather recently and its impact on Sun Peaks, our local ski hill in Kamloops, which now looks like it is more ready for golf than skiing, spring is a time to focus on growth and renewal. For our company, it's a time to look at what we are doing and how we can do it better to help our residents live better.

GROWTH

An area of growth for Kelson Group is property development of new rental apartment buildings. For years, our company has primarily purchased buildings from other apartment owners to expand our portfolio to provide greater selection to residents in B.C. and Alberta. In recent years, we have continued to purchase apartment buildings but more often we are taking on the role of property developer. In late 2018, we opened Peterson Landing in Kamloops, and within a few months of opening we were at 100% capacity with a great community of people calling Peterson Landing home. Currently, we are building two new projects: Legacy Square in Kamloops and Panorama Crossing in Surrey, with both projects on schedule to open in the fall of 2019.

             Legacy Square:

Legacy Square is a five-storey, 77 suite multi-family development being built in the heart of the Thompson Rivers University Campus. We are very pleased with the progress and we invite you to sign up for our email alerts and to join the waiting list at www.legacysquare.ca

Panorama Crossing:

Located in the bustling neighbourhood of Panorama in Surrey is Panorama Crossing, a 106-suite, four-storey building just steps away from shopping, entertainment, and parks. This building will welcome a variety of new residents and we invite you to sign up for email alerts and to join the waiting list at www.panoramacrossing.ca

RENEWAL

When I think of renewal as a company, it is with the lens of "how can we take what we do now and make it better." One area is building and suite maintenance. With close to 4,000 apartment suites in our portfolio, you can imagine how many individual residents have requests to fix an appliance or need a minor repair in their suite. In addition, the wear and tear on a building can take its toll in common areas such as the lobby, laundry room, exercise rooms, and so on. Our teams have a regular schedule for maintenance tasks they adhere to while also expediting resident requests for in-suite repairs.

In addition to our 48-hour response goal to complete minor requests and immediate emergency response procedures for bigger issues, we are always looking for ways to do things better. A new property management software will be implemented this year which will help our maintenance teams become more efficient, with the goal of responding faster to our residents, opening up lines of communication, and working more collaboratively as a team to ensure what we do truly does help our residents live better. We are excited for these changes we believe will enhance service for our valued residents no matter where they live with Kelson Group, in B.C. and Alberta.

We wish you a spring of growth and renewal.
