Kelson Group Officially Opens Rockcliffe at TRU and Liberty Pointe
For Immediate Release
April 28, 2022
Kamloops, B.C. – Kelson Group announced the grand opening of Rockcliffe at TRU and Liberty Pointe with an official ribbon-cutting, celebrating the two newest developments on the Thompson Rivers University Campus.
In a ceremony held on April 28, 2022, Kelson Group officially unveiled their two newest residential buildings in the presence of residents, as well as representatives from the TRU Community Trust and Thompson Rivers University.
“We were so pleased to officially open Liberty Pointe and Rockcliffe at TRU with our colleagues from the Thompson Rivers University Community Trust, Thompson Rivers University leadership, and some of the most important people in attendance, our residents,” remarked Jason Fawcett, President, Kelson Group. “We have appreciated the work of so many people at Thompson Rivers University to make these projects come together somewhat seamlessly, which is a tremendous compliment considering residential, privately owned developments on campus are a newer concept for the University, and there were many logistics to consider as we built these buildings in a busy campus setting.”
Both, Rockcliffe at TRU, the 40-suite condominium development and Liberty Pointe, the five-storey, 42 suite multi-family development, are already at 100 per cent occupancy.
“Rockcliffe at TRU and Liberty Pointe are our second and third buildings, respectively, to be built on campus, the first being Legacy Square,” said Fawcett. “We are pleased that these three buildings are all at 100 per cent capacity, which not only shows the demand for housing on the campus, but also contributes to The Trust’s mission to create a university neighbourhood to enhance campus life, which we are proud to be a part of.”
The developments, which followed Legacy Square, mark TRU Community Trust's vision to build a university neighbourhood that enhances campus life while generating support for students, such as bursaries and research grants.
“The Trust Board would like to congratulate Kelson Group for completing another high-quality development, and thank them for embracing the University's vision by investing at TRU and helping to realize value from lands that are surplus to future academic needs,” said Brian Ross, Director and former chair on the TRU Community Trust Board. “As a result of Kelson Group’s and others’ commitment, the TRU Community Trust has been able to endow over 5.5 million dollars thus far to the University and the TRU Foundation for student scholarships and bursaries, and research grants.”
Not only have the developments quickly become a dream place for homeowners and renters, but they have also been recognized in the BC Central Interior’s 2022 Housing Awards of Excellence.
In the recently held Keystone Awards, hosted by the Canadian Home Builder’s Association of Central Interior to celebrate housing excellence in the city of Kamloops, Rockcliffe at TRU by Kelson Group took gold in the Best Multi-Family Development High Rise category, followed by Legacy Square Apartments in the same category as a silver finalist.
