Responsibilities include performing physical, construction related tasks, operating various hand and power tools, cleaning and preparing work sites, and completing required maintenance tasks using a variety of basic craft skills, such as carpentry, plumbing and electrical. Communication with site and office personnel will be required to complete these tasks.
MINIMUM EDUCATION / SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Minimum Gr12 diploma / GED and at least 2 years of related OFA3 and construction experience.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be bondable.
• Ability to read and understand engineered plans and contract documents.
• Ability and knowledge to safely operate various hand and power tools.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Knowledge of company policies and procedures, workplace safety, safe lifting and handling procedures.
• Be accountable and dependable with good time management and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently within a team environment, with minimal supervision.
• Able to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment.
• Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
• Possess basic computer skills, including Microsoft Windows and web-based software.
• Sufficiently fit to handle all physical aspects of the job, including lifting and hauling up to 80 lbs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure the sufficient deployment and productivity of work crews.
• Ensure materials and equipment is available and organized.
• Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, and equipment.
• Represent the company professionally in the community and maintain ongoing good business relationship with customer base and suppliers.
• Read and interpret project plans and specifications.
• Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met.
• Lead and direct people, equipment, and resources in the construction of multifamily complexes.
• Ensure consistent and fair application of the progressive disciplinary policy.
• Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as an integral component of regular duties.
• Keep a daily, detailed log of tasks and submit time sheets electronically.
• Train and promote the development of subordinates in the best practice of operations and company standards. Good conflict resolutions skills are seen as an asset.
• Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics. Ensure its application in performing his/her regular duties.
• Perform basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical and site labour work as needed.
• Clean, prepare and maintain construction site to eliminate possible hazards.
• Assisting with the set up and placement of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices
• Engage in any educational or training programs offered by the company.
• Any other assigned duties that may arise.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Flexibility to work some Saturdays and irregular hours if necessary and on short notice.
• Clear criminal record.
